Bringing Education and Seniors Together
The Bringing Education and Seniors Together (B.E.S.T.) program consists of planning a day trip once a month to Iowa sights. The trip is targeted to people age 55+. Times will vary according to destination. Call the Library at 515-266-7815 for questions, to reserve your seat or add your name to the mailing list.
The bus will begin loading 30 minutes prior to the trip. If you are traveling on the trip, please sign in and pick up your name tag. Vehicles can be parked in the lot west of the library during the day trips.
|Our day begins at the Danish Immigrant Museum then to the Bedstemor's Hus, a restored and historic Danish home built in 1889. (Bedstemor means grandmother in Danish). We will learn how the Danish Windmill was built and brought to Elk Horn from Denmark! See a replica of a 900 A.D. VikingHjem (Viking Smithy's home) and drive by the Little Mermaid.|

|Our day begins at the historic St. Luke’s United Methodist Church viewing over 105 stained glass Tiffany windows. Then onto Dubuque’s downtown historic Main Street for lunch and shopping on your own, or perhaps take a ride up Fenelon Place Elevator, the shortest, steepest railway in the world! We will end the day at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium.|

|Our day begins at the Matchstick Marvels Museum in Gladbrook then onto view the Freedom Rock painted by Bubba Sorenson and see the F-4 Phantom Jet flown by local resident, Joe Latham during his 45th mission over Vietnam in 1966. We will end our day at the Appleberry Farm!|

Book Discussion Group
Each month, the group reads and discusses a book selected by the members. Books are obtained by the library for all who want to participate. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at the library. Below is a list of the upcoming books the group will be discussing. Join us!
