Selected from more than 85 entries, Julie & David Pellegrino, residents of Pleasant Hill are winners of the 2017 rain barrel contest. The contest ran through the month of March and gave residents a chance to complete a brief survey about ways to protect stormwater.“I am excited to install this rain barrel to help conserve water and protect the environment,” said Julie Pellegrino. “Being able to use a natural resource to wash my car or water my garden is rewarding. This rain barrel will help lower my water bill too, which I’m excited about.” Residents could enter this contest online, at the Public Library, or City Hall. Residents interested in installing a rain barrel can receive reimbursement for the installation up to 50 percent or $75, whichever is the lesser value.
