Get involved in Bike Month

Bike Month passport

May is National Bike Month, which celebrates weekend trail riders, daily commuters, distance rollers and lovers all things bikes in Central Iowa. We encourage residents of Pleasant Hill to get involved by stopping by City Hall to pick up a Bike Month Passport. Simply attend a listed event in the passport booklet, complete the activity and you could win prizes. Upon completing an event, be sure to get your page stamped by a designated representative.

Achieve 5 stamped pages and receive a Des Moines Bicycle Collective Patch (while supplies last)

Achieve 10 stamped pages and receive a 2017 Bike Month Print Glass (while supplies last)

Achieve 15 stamped pages and receive a bike shop gift certificate (while supplies last)

Persons who receive 15 or more stamps will be entered into a Grand Prize Drawing for a night’s stay at Hotel Pattee in Perry.

Be sure to register at to be eligible to receive prizes. Registration is free.

A few fun facts about trails in Pleasant Hill

  • Youngstown Trail Phase 2 is currently in design and engineering. Phase 2 will connect the Gay Lea Wilson Trail at Parkridge Avenue east to Pleasant Hill Boulevard on the south side of Parkridge. Construction will likely occur over the next year. Click here for more information.
  • There are 5 miles of trails in Pleasant Hill including connections to the Central Iowa Trail system via the Gay Lea Wilson Trail
  • Trailheads for riders and walkers are available at Copper Creek Lake Park, Christie Lane Park, Oakwood Drive/Parkridge Avenue and Storage and Design on NE 56th St – and Williams Street in Des Moines.
