As the City of Pleasant Hill’s development momentum continues, the community experienced another year of steady growth in construction projects. The Community Development Department issued a record-setting 218 new construction building permits totaling an estimated $60.5 million in new construction permits in 2020 – the largest private investment in the history of the City of Pleasant Hill. “This year’s growth can be greatly attributed to our City’s completed housing study which paints a clear picture of our community’s residential and multi-family needs,” said Madeline Sturms, Community Development Director. “We value building partnerships with the development community and their investments into quality growth in our community are reflected in this historic year.”
New single-family and townhome projects accounted for more than half of the new permit valuation. Multi-Family housing accounted for approximately $15.5 million; including a new apartment complex by All Points Development to be located by E University Ave and NE 70th St. The City of Pleasant Hill saw substantial investments in Commercial properties as well, including additions and remodeling investments from existing businesses. These projects have created a significant economic impact for the community.
The City anticipates 2021 will be another impressive year and City officials look forward to seeing the investments made as Pleasant Hill continues to be a community of choice in the Des Moines Metro.
