The City of Pleasant Hill is pleased to announce the hire of Jalatama “Jolly” Omar as the Economic Development Specialist.
As the Economic Development Specialist, Omar will assist the City in planning, executing, and communicating the City’s economic development strategy. The newly created position will be responsible for implementing a business retention and expansion program along with investment recruitment for the growing community of Pleasant Hill.

have Jolly join our team in this important role to expand our capacity for proactive business relationships as the community continues to experience steady growth in commercial, industrial and residential projects,” said Madeline Sturms, Community Development Director. “He has already begun to make an immediate positive impact on the City.”
Omar earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a Minor in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of South Dakota. After graduation from the University of South Dakota he served as a Management Analyst for the City of Davenport.
“I look forward to working together with staff, council, and residents to continue and enhance the city’s growth and strategic development into the future,” said Omar.
Omar is delighted to explore and grow his family’s roots into Central Iowa. When not working, Jolly enjoys watching sports and spending time with his wife, Marina, and their dogs Remy and Archie.
