View Full Golf Cart Ordinance (PDF)

Summary

Starting January 1, 2024, golf carts are required to have a displayed registration tag with the City of Pleasant Hill. Registration tags can be purchased starting on December 1, 2023 at City Hall Monday-Friday 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Golf carts can only be operated by those with a valid driver's license and must have the driver's license on them while operating the golf cart.

How much does it cost?

A registration tag costs $100 and is valid for 2 years. This price was determined after researching several communities around us.

What do I need to purchase a registration tag?

Complete the Golf Cart Permit registration form and ensure the cart has the following equipment:

      • A Slow Moving Vehicle Sign
      • Safety Flag (extends above the roof)
      • Rear View Mirror
      • Adequate Brakes as described in Code of Iowa 321.247
      • Head Lights, Brake Lights, Turn Signal Lights

Are these safety requirements new?

No. These are the same safety requirements already required by the State of Iowa. The registration to say these requirements are met is what is new.
