Apply to be on the Public Arts Advisory CommissionThe City of Pleasant Hill is now accepting applications for seven members to be appointed on the Public Arts Advisory Commission. The Commission will play a vital role in advising and assisting the Pleasant Hill City Council in the promotion of public art and performing arts within the City’s physical environment and public spaces.
The City is seeking volunteers interested in and representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives of art and culture who are ready to further our connection with all forms of art. Apply today

Be aware of fraudulent phone scamsFraudulent phone scans seem to be occurring more frequently within our community, predominantly victimizing senior citizens.
The Pleasant Hill Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office remind residents to be aware of these scams. If a phone call seems skeptical, it most likely is.

Art on the Lake September 17 at Copper Creek Lake ParkThe first annual ‘Art on the Lake’ will be held at Copper Creek Lake Park on Saturday, September 17 from 11 am to 5 pm. Open to all ages, the free event will present an opportunity for art lovers and event enthusiasts alike to meet, talk, and purchase original art from 25 local artists and one youth artist.
This festival boasts interactive learning experiences and demonstrations, collaborative art displays from elementary students, live music, kid’s activities, and much more. Read more

Farmer's Market on Thursday'sThe Pleasant Hill Farmers' Market is held every Thursday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Berean Assembly of God Church parking lot. Stop by and check out a wide selection of locally-grown produce, baked goods, plants and canned goods. The market is located at 5299 E. University Avenue in Pleasant Hill. See you there tomorrow.

EVENTS- Art on the Lake: Saturday, September 17, 11 am-5 pm. Provides the public an opportunity to meet, talk, and purchase artwork from 25 Iowa artists while listening to live music. Kids are encouraged to attend and create an art project at the kids tent.
- Firefighters' Pancake Breakfast: Saturday, October 15, 6:30-11 am at Fire Station, 5151 Maple Drive in Pleasant Hill. Families are encouraged to come meet their local fire department volunteers, friends and neighbors. Donations will benefit the firefighters association. Pancakes, sausage, milk, orange juice and coffee will be served.
- Halloween Party: Friday, October 21, 6:30-8 pm at Doanes Park Youth Center. Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costume and come to enjoy indoor games, snacks and prizes. This event is sponsored by the Pleasant Hill Library and Parks & Recreation.
