Youngstown Trail Phase 1 Ribbon Cutting Event September 15

We invite you to the ribbon cutting event for the opening of Youngstown Trail Phase 1 on Thursday, September 15 at 4 p.m. This trail extends from NE 56th Street near Great Escape, east to the Highway 65 bypass and connects south to Oakwood Drive. We ask attendees to meet north of East Oakwood Drive and west of Hwy 65. The first annual ‘Art on the Lake’ will be held at Copper Creek Lake Park on Saturday, September 17 from 11 am to 5 pm. DART to host public meetings on September 27 for proposed new route

DART will hold two public meetings on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, to gather input on a proposed new route that would operate between DART Central Station and Pleasant Hill along University Avenue. The first will be at noon at DART Central Station, 620 Cherry Street, Des Moines and the second meeting will be held as part of the Pleasant Hill City Council meeting, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill City Hall, 5160 Maple Drive, Pleasant Hill. Apply to be on the Public Arts Advisory Commission

The City of Pleasant Hill is now accepting applications for seven members to be appointed to the Public Arts Advisory Commission. The Commission will play a vital role in advising and assisting the Pleasant Hill City Council in the promotion of public art and performing arts within the City’s physical environment and public spaces. The City is seeking volunteers interested in and representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives of art and culture who are ready to further our connection with all forms of art. Apply today

Partner with us on the Home Base Iowa initiative 

Home Base Iowa is a public-private partnership to recruit veterans and transition service members for private-sector careers in Iowa. On August 9, 2016 the Pleasant Hill City Council unanimously passed a resolution in support of the Home Base Iowa initiative. Pleasant Hill businesses and organizations can support veterans and transitioning service members by setting a goal to hire a certain number of veterans and by committing to post jobs on the Home Base Iowa website. Read more

  • Youngstown Trail Ribbon Cutting: Thursday, September 15, 4:00 pm at the Youngstown Trail located north of East Oakwood Dr. and west of Hwy 65.

  • Art on the Lake: Saturday, September 17, 11 am-5 pm. Provides the public an opportunity to meet, talk, and purchase artwork from 25 Iowa artists while listening to live music. Kids are encouraged to attend and create an art project at the kids tent. 

  • Firefighters' Pancake Breakfast: Saturday, October 15, 6:30-11 am at Fire Station, 5151 Maple Drive in Pleasant Hill. Families are encouraged to come meet their local fire department volunteers, friends and neighbors. Donations will benefit the firefighters association. Pancakes, sausage, milk, orange juice and coffee will be served.

  • Halloween Party: Friday, October 21, 6:30-8 pm at Doanes Park Youth Center. Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costume and come to enjoy indoor games, snacks and prizes. This event is sponsored by the Pleasant Hill Library and Parks & Recreation.
